چکیده

This article presents a firm mathematical foundation for the boundary value problem associated with the nonrelativistic Thomas-Fermi equation for heavy atoms in intense magnetic fields. Our approach uses an application of differential inequalities and ideas from nonlinear analysis, including: the technique of lower and upper solutions; and fixed-point theory. We present new results that ensure existence, uniqueness, location and approximation of solutions. We thus establish that the Thomas-Fermi model leads to a robust theory of heavy atoms in intense magnetic fields in spite of the severe approximations that it employs. Simplest Equation Method for nonlinear solitary waves in Thomas- Fermi plasmas

The Thomas-Fermi (TF) equation has proved to beuseful for the treatment of many physical phenomena. In this pa-per, the traveling wave solutions of the KdV equation is investi-gated by the simplest equation method. Also, the effect of differentparameters on these solitary waves is considered. The numericalresults is conformed the good accuracy of presented method.

Rational approximation to Thomas–Fermi equations

We show that a simple and straightforward rational approximation to the Thomas– Fermi equation provides the slope at origin with unprecedented accuracy and that relatively small Padé approximants are far more accurate than more elaborate approaches proposed recently by other authors. We consider both the Thomas–Fermi equation for isolated atoms and for atoms in strong magnetic fields.

Eigenfunction Expansions for Second-Order Boundary Value Problems with Separated Boundary Conditions

In this paper, we investigate some properties of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of boundary value problems with separated boundary conditions. Also, we obtain formal series solutions for some partial differential equations associated with the second order differential equation, and study necessary and sufficient conditions for the negative and positive eigenvalues of the boundary value problem....

An analytic solution for a non-local initial-boundary value problem including a partial differential equation with variable coefficients

‎This paper considers a non-local initial-boundary value problem containing a first order partial differential equation with variable coefficients‎. ‎At first‎, ‎the non-self-adjoint spectral problem is derived‎. ‎Then its adjoint problem is calculated‎. ‎After that‎, ‎for the adjoint problem the associated eigenvalues and the subsequent eigenfunctions are determined‎. ‎Finally the convergence ...

Least squares weighted residual method for finding the elastic stress fields in rectangular plates under uniaxial parabolically distributed edge loads

In this work, the least squares weighted residual method is used to solve the two-dimensional (2D) elasticity problem of a rectangular plate of in-plane dimensions 2a 2b subjected to parabolic edge tensile loads applied at the two edges x = a. The problem is expressed using Beltrami–Michell stress formulation. Airy’s stress function method is applied to the stress compatibility equation, and th...
